Ellen Tadd was a gifted spiritual teacher, clairvoyant counselor, educator and author who used to live in the Boston area. I recently learned of her passing. I don’t think that she was much older than me. She had cancer. In the letter from her family announcing her death they wrote: “Please know that in her last days, she often mentioned the idea of perfection and achieved a deeper understanding of her mother’s original message: that all aspects of life, no matter how difficult, have purpose and meaning.” They also included a quote from her, “It is always helpful to hold the image of loved ones who have died as vibrant, healthy and at their best. When we focus and send positive imagery to individuals after death, we help them to let go of the past and proceed to life’s next phase. ” I am trying to do that at the same time that I am mourning the loss of her.
The news of her death prompted me to re-read one of her books, “The Infinite View: A Guidebook for Living on Earth” which is a good introduction to her teachings. I used to enjoy attending day long monthly gatherings that she held in a conference room of a downtown Boston hotel. The subject of the day’s teaching was whatever her Guides were recommending that she discuss. When asked a question, she would frequently stop and listen to their counsel before responding. Occasionally she would directly channel them. I had faith in her integrity and valued the wisdom that she shared.
Ellen had a unique take on the chakra system which was solely derived from clairvoyant observation of people and their energy centers. One of her central prescriptions was to look out at the world through the perspective of the Third Eye, the 6th chakra, located in the center of the forehead, rather than from the Solar Plexus, the 3rd chakra, the gut area where one feels butterflies when nervous. When we view the world through our Third Eye, we experience compassion, acceptance and wisdom vs when we are coming from our Solar Plexus, we suffer and can feel judgmental, resentful, and fearful.
The Third Eye is our center of spiritual perception. When we perceive the world through our Third Eye, it promotes “attunement” which she defines as the blending of our conscious mind with our spirit. She recommended that we live our lives looking out through our foreheads which allows us to bring our best self forward and to experience flow, ease and grace. Looking at life through the Third Eye increases positivity and causes our aura to expand. Positivity is also contagious and uplifts those you encounter. Positivity does not mean ignoring your own or the real problems in our world, but rather approaching the world through a spiritual perspective. When you look out at the world through your Third Eye, you have a deep sense of what is right for you. You feel neither compelled to conform or rebel, but can show up as your most authentic self.
Ellen also emphasized the important role that inspiration plays. Inspiration is a tool that opens the crown chakra, the area at the top of the head, which connects us with the Divine. Inspiration is experienced when we feel whole, open-hearted and connected and when we feel love and gratitude. The more that we develop our capacity to view the world through our Third Eye, the more that simple things will cause us to feel inspired. It’s a kind of refinement, a sensitization to the ordinary magic of the world that moves us into an experience of inspiration with little provocation.
Here are two wonderful interviews with Ellen that will give you a sense of this beautiful soul and her work.
The first was recorded in 2017 just prior to the publication of “The Infinite View” on Inspired Nation.
The second is from 2014 when she was working with an educational organization, Creative Lives, entitled ” The Chakra System in today’s world: an interview with Ellen Tadd on her Framework for Wise Education.
