The global focus on prevention and treatment of obesity has increased substantially in response to the high prevalence reported in child and adult populations. In some countries, particularly in Europe, this focus has also led to an increase in innovation, policy, and evolution of health systems, including weight management and obesity services. This much needed increase has not happened in low-income and middle-income countries. Since 2022, there has been evidence of increased involvement of people with overweight or obesity in research and policy relating to prevention and treatment, with more importance placed on lived experiences.
