During some dark times, star 49ers linebacker Fred Warner and his wife, Sydney, received a needed jolt of bright news.
The couple announced last month that baby No. 2 was on the way. And on Friday morning, Sydney shared the gender of the bundle of joy cooking in the oven.
Warner will join 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey in the “Girl Dad” club, as a video Sydney posted to her Instagram shows that a baby girl is on the way.
“Life knew we were gonna need a little extra sunshine this year,” Sydney wrote. “Let’s hope Beau warms up to the idea soon enough. Sweet days are ahead.”
The couple had their first child together, their son Beau, during the 2024 offseason. Beau, Fred and Sydney all were in the video, where Fred and Sydney bit into a cupcake whose filling, blue for boy or pink for girl, would determine the gender.
The filling, of course, was pink.
Fred’s dramatically exciting reaction frightened Beau for a moment, who burst into tears. As Sydney stated, Beau is sure to warm up to the idea of being a big brother to his little sister soon enough.
Fred suffered a season-ending ankle injury during San Francisco’s Week 6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which immediately sent shockwaves across the organization and fanbase.
He vowed on social media to come back stronger, and he’ll now have some girl-dad strength to help ignite just that.
