A compilation of 200 simple, delicious recipes using all-natural ingredients; meal plans; time-saving tips; and advice that will take the guesswork out of dinner, from the creator of the popular Wellness Mama website.

With six kids, a popular blog, and no free time, Katie Wells, knows firsthand how difficult it is to cook a healthy, homemade dinner every night. Faced with her own health challenges, and also concerned about the frightening statistics on the future health of her children’s generation, Katie began to evaluate the foods she was eating and feeding to her family. She became determined to find a way to create and serve meals that were wholesome, easy to prepare, budget-friendly, and family approved.

The recipes and practical advice Katie offers in The Wellness Mama Cookbook will help you eliminate processed foods and move toward more healthy, home-cooked meals that are easily prepared—most in thirty minutes or less. The recipes focus on whole foods that are free of grains and refined sugars and without harmful fats, but are still delicious and full of flavor. With a variety of slow-cooker and one-pot meals, light lunches, dinners, and desserts, you’ll be eating better in every way in no time at all. Recipes include Sesame Chicken with Sugar Snap Peas, Sweet Potato Crusted Quiche Lorraine, Beef and Zucchini Stir Fry, and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies, as well as recipes for bone broths, fermented foods, and super food drinks and smoothies. Katie also shares pantry-stocking advice, two weeks of meal plans for at home and on-the-go, shopping lists, and more. This is the ultimate cookbook that readers need to incorporate healthy eating knowledge into their daily practices.

Gluten free, busy mama’s dream cookbook!
This cookbook is amazing! If you are looking for a simple, easy to follow, whole food-filled cookbook, this one is for you! Living a gluten-free lifestyle can be difficult at times, so having a practical, real life book with actually usable recipes is a rarity! I often see very complicated gluten-free recipes utilizing three or four different types of flour online and save them to my Pinterest but never really have the time to think about the different flour combinations… and I really don’t want to have to buy that many flours anyway. That being said, the premade gluten-free flour mixes don’t always work with those recipes either. Wellness Mama has created a cookbook that utilizes whole foods and fresh, accessible ingredients, all grain free. Who knew that making Jello could be so simple and so much healthier (grape juice and grass fed gelatin, anyone?). No joke – it was easier than making Jello from the box. My favorite recipes are the Pakistani Kima and chewy chocolate chip cookies made with only almond flour. The orange cranberry muffins were excellent as well. The best part is that sweetener-wise, there is only 1/4 cup of maple syrup to make about twelve muffins and they taste better than many muffins I’ve had with one or more cups of sugar. I recently made twelve of her recipes to share with friends at a party and they loved every single one. Since I was making so many all at once, I didn’t have the time to taste each one as I went. However, as I sampled them at the party, I realized that by following her instructions exactly, there was no tweaking necessary. The spice and flavor profiles are perfect! The recipes in this book range from every day quick, less than 30 minute meals with little prep to crockpot to snacking to simple healthy desserts that will knock out a sweet tooth without leaving you feeling like you need more. Everyone should have one in their kitchen. If you haven’t checked out her blog, do it! I subscribed to her email updates, and I literally click on every article link. Her perspectives on raising her kids, living naturally, and fixing one’s health with food ring true throughout the cookbook. @WellnessMama did us all a favor in making this cookbook! Thanks, Wellness Mama!

    Safe food advice
I can ALWAYS, 100% rely on sound advice from Wellness Mama. I have followed her for years and not only love her clean recipes, easy to follow, also use her recipes for making my own lotions, creams, etc. I have shared her website so many times. Reliable.

    Delicious recipes for busy families
Sometimes my husband and I talk about the fancy meals I made before we had kids – and then we LAUGH and LAUGH at the idea of me trying to pull one of those meals off with our three littles ones running around the house. Fortunately, delicious doesn’t have to be complicated, and this cookbook proves it.I’ve tried the Roasted Garlic Cabbage (A personal favorite), Mississippi Pot Roast (Oh. My. Goodness.), Chicken Piccata (My kids favorite), Sriracha Shrimp Lettuce Wraps (Served these on game day and my husband raved about them – also super quick and easy), and Chipotle Chicken Fingers With Honey Mustard (Now in permanent rotation). Everything was easy to make and got a thumbs up from my kids. Now, this next part should probably come with a “results may vary” disclaimer, but let me tell you what happened on the day I made the sriracha shrimp and my husband was watching his favorite football team play.Me: When the game is on commercial I have a big ask.Husband (hits mute): What’s the ask?Me: Will you build me a platform bed like in this photo? My husband hit record on the t.v. and headed to the hardware store to pick up supplies. It’s wasn’t my birthday or our anniversary, but I had just made him a big plate of sriracha shrimp lettuce wraps that he raved about. Is he an amazing husband? Absolutely. Did the sriracha shrimp tip things in my favor? I’m gonna go with yes.

Great cookbook that focuses on nutrient dense foods!
I have been a fan of Katie and her Wellness Mama site for a number of years now. I’ve used her recipes as a go to for everything: natural remedies, beauty products, sunscreen, seasoning mixes- you name it, I’ve tried it. I bought her first cookbook and was so impressed by it…many of my favorite recipes (plus more!) from her site I now had at my fingertips in paper. So when this second cookbook came out it wasn’t even a question!Although we aren’t completely grain free, we are pretty close and make nutrient dense, pastured & grass finished organic food a priority as much as possible. So I love that these recipes are right within my realm of thinking and are honestly just delicious! Some of my favorites I’ve made so far are the Kohlrabi fritters, simple sausage balls, Chicken Piccata, (oh. my. goodness. this was good!) and my new favorite (possibly ever) desert is the No Bake Myer Lemon bars! I was never a huge fan of Lemon deserts (probably because it was always fake flavored and processed junk in the past) but I literally think I could eat those everyday (and almost did for awhile after making them for a party). They may have to be a weekly staple in our home!Buy this cookbook, you won’t be disappointed! Life is to short to eat boring food!

Great new cookbook from Katie Wells
Great new cookbook from Katie Wells. I really enjoyed the wide range of recipes and how simple so many of them were. As a fellow busy mom, Katie’s advice about meal planning, budgeting for real food, and dealing with picky eaters was also very helpful. The list of recipes at the beginning of each category is great for finding things quickly, as I can usually remember which category it falls into but not the actual name of the recipe. My boys are not adventurous eaters yet, so some of the recipes I’ve had to pass over for the time being, but I hope as we try more and more different foods and styles, they’ll come to love these new tastes as well. Love the photos in the book; just wish there were more so I knew what each dish was supposed to look like! 🙂 Overall, a handy cookbook and resource that will be used often.

I ordered this cookbook immediately after reading her book “5 step lifestyle detox” and let me tell you, if you are interested in healthy & real food recipes, I highly recommend this cookbook. With an awesome introduction to read, it helps you understand why making healthy choices can benefit you and your family. Not only do the recipes look and sound delicious but they are simple to make. I haven’t had the chance to try them all out but the ones I have tried, I absolutely love (even my 3 year old approves!). So pleased with this purchase! A must have for your kitchen!
