    Buy! This! Book!
Buy! This! Book!It doesn’t matter if you are a “victim” of Ulcerative Colitis, the parent, friend, partner or spouse of one who is, this book will help you to reach the point of understanding it from start to remission. My Husband has this brutal condition, and in my journey to help him learn to “treat” it better, I purchased the book. It is so well written, and easy to read and filled with valuable information I didn’t know I needed to have. I understood UC better, was able to put 2 and 2 together, having watched him struggle for years, and know how and what could help him walk in a different path to restructure his burden. Being written by this remarkable woman who, herself struggled with it and found her way to a freedom in spite of UC, the journey, understanding, path, and life changes as well as challenges come from not just the first hand experience, but from the heart as well. This book was written to be shared and to help those of us who have this life-long condition in some way touch our lives and show us how we can address it and “silence” it in many ways, and often long term. I read many articles and watched a crazy number of videos on UC which were often over my head, or even boring. Because I personally didn’t have UC I never fully understood what it truly is like. For me, Jacki McEwen-Powell covered so many ‘bases’ so I was able to see and understand the path we were on and the journey ahead. So often, while reading, a bell went off in my head. Ding Ding. Because I could connect and better relay things to my husband. He isn’t a reader so this helped me be in a position to help him understand it too. If you are on the fence, just buy it. It’s inexpensive and worth the read, especially if you are new to this, and if you have had it for a while, but still not making progress, this can help, if for nothing else, to understand. Plus, it is super easy to read and not be able to put down. The author needs a YouTube channel. I am more adaptable to “watching” than reading. And yet, this book proved easy to read and so very helpful, to me. And more helpful than many videos I viewed. It’s surely not the only resource you need, but it’s on the top of my list.

    So positive and helpful
I think this book should be a must read for everyone with Ulcerative Colitis. I read it first then gave it to my daughter who has UC. Am now ordering it for son-in-law. It was easy to read and gives you hope for dealing with this disease. The information is practical and doable!

    UC Warrior must read!!!
This book is the UC answer I have been looking for! I read the entire book in one day and took 14 pages of notes! The chapters are short and there is no “fluff.” It is easy to read and understand. She even includes chapters on the importance of mindfulness, breathing and grounding, and explains how all of our body systems can impact our digestive system and gut biome. She shares personal stories, which humanizes the author, showing her depth of knowledge and experience.I cannot recommend this book enough…whether you have a family member with UC, have just been diagnosed yourself, or have been a UC warrior for years, I promise you will get something out of this book!

A must have resource for UC
This has been the most comprehensive and informative UC resource that I have read. This book is well organized, explains causes, treatments, lifestyle changes, diets, personal experiences from others with UC. Each chapter has a recap of information. This book is a must have for newly diagnosed people with UC or those that are searching for modifying diet and lifestyle to reduce medication usage.

A literal goldmine of practical & applicable information!
It’s absolutely tailored for UC however I’d argue that anybody suffering from health issues would benefit from flipping through these pages. Fantastic advice & the “takeaways” after every chapter make for quick & easy bookmarking

    Very informative!
My son was diagnosed when he was 17. It has been a battle, even more so because he left home for college. It helps to put myself in his shoes.

The science behind UC is explained in a way that’s easy to understand, and the recommendations are not just theory—they’re things that can be realistically applied to everyday life. From gut-healing foods to stress management tips, this book covers it all without overwhelming the reader with jargon or unrealistic expectations. There is so much useful information in this book! It has advice and practical ways to solve gut health issues even without having UC. I particularly like the ‘primary food’ section which isn’t about food at all but lifestyle tips. I’ve read books dedicated to fasting, meditation and gut health but this book is an all-round self care book I’ll dip into again and again. Would thoroughly recommend.
